Scandinavian temperatures in the South of Europe: -25ºC in Spain!

Updated: Jan 26, 2021

At the beginning of this year, Storm Filomena brought extreme cold weather all over the South of Europe but specially to Spain during almost a week. Such unusual cold has not been experienced in cities like Madrid in the last 60 years. Tonnes of snow fell on the capital city creating long ski slopes where people enjoyed and celebrate this exceptional event.

“Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…”

Winter in Norway

However, it is not all good news, around 700,000 broken trees closed Madrid streets, hospitals main entrances were blocked and public transport was interrupted due to the high snow cover. In other regions, farmers were worried because the storm could harm vegetable crops and due to the shortage of food for animals on the countryside.

In spite of this, these freezing temperatures remind us of the magical Scandinavian landscapes. In fact, Spaniards have never felt so Nordic before. To create inside your home the cozy atmosphere the Scandinavian people have in their living rooms, at Hazia we propose that our glacier cushion cover is the best option to curl up on the sofa with a movie and a blanket with the very best Nordic style.

In Hazia we also offer lovely Organic Cotton Napkins and Organic Cotton Table Linen.

Why is organic cotton good?

Its farming does not allow the use of toxic chemicals or GMOs (genetically modified organisms). Instead, it combines traditional, natural innovation and science to benefit the shared environment and promote a good quality of life for all involved.

It uses far less water than conventional one. It is 80% rain-fed (when weather conditions allow), which reduces pressure on local water sources.

Therefore, our products are not simple Cheap white table linen made by conventional cotton which for example takes 2,700 litres of water to make a conventional cotton t -shirt. At Hazia we offer sustainable designs and ethical and responsible production.
